Undefeated Shane Mosley claims his first title when he bests undefeated IBF Lightweight Champion Philip Holiday over twelve rounds. After jumping out to an early lead behind power shots, Mosley appears to tire over the middle rounds, allowing Holiday to outwork him. Down the stretch, however, Mosley proves too much as he finds his second wind and drills the tough Holiday enough to win a unanimous decision.
