"Both boxers were bloodied at the finish. Napoles had a deep cut over his right eyebrow which bled profusely and almost shut his right eye. Muniz was bleeding from a cut over his left eyebrow and another cut above his right cheek. Napoles dominated the bout from the early going. He knocked down Muniz with 10 seconds to go in the 8th round with a right jab and a left hook, but the challenger got up quickly. Muniz stayed in close with his head lowered and directed his punches at Napoles body, until the 7th round. He then began throwing lefts and rights at the champion's head, but was no match for Napoles' powerful and swift left jabs which punished the challenger's face. All three judges gave the fight to Napoles, by scores of 149-142, 149-139 and 148-142." -Associated Press

With his eyes swollen, Cokes simply couldn't see to continue fighting and although the boxer wanted to go on, manager Doug Lord asked the bout at the Forum Friday night be halted.
