Undefeated Russian welterweight Konstanstin Ponomarev takes on an also undefeated American, Brad Solomon, in Las Vegas. Ponomarev defeats Solomon with a split decision win, Lisa Giampa gave the young Russian a wide win, while Richard Ocasio scored the fight other way, which was a massive disagreement amongst the judges, and did not add up. This fight took place on the undercard of what was supposed to be Manny Pacquiao's last fight, it was a rubber match against Tim Bradley, who he dropped and comfortably defeated to make it 2-1, also on the bill, was Arther Abraham taking on undefetaed Gilberto Ramirez, Ramirez shut Abraham out on all the scorecards, in what was a shocking  result, this put Ramirez's name right on the map.

Ponomarev out boxes Ortiz in a one sided, unanimous shut out, nothing spectacular, but it is a good performance, and 8 rounds of solid, sensible boxing, which is always good fof a young fighter who's climbing up the levels.
